With over fifty years of musical experience each, the members of NITESHIFT have been performing since their teenage years — both picking up guitars at just 16. Now in their seventies, their passion for music hasn’t faded — it’s only grown stronger.
Their story took shape three years ago when one of them moved to the area. Just six months later, a twist of fate brought them together. Through a mutual connection — a school friend of a brother-in-law — Robbie was introduced to his future bandmate. One jam session later, NITESHIFT was born.
Since that moment, they’ve been lighting up local venues with their timeless sound and magnetic energy. You can catch them at favorites like Im Eimer, The Thirsty Oyster, Rooi Els Pub, and other beloved local spots.
For Colin and Robbie, it’s not about chasing fame — it’s about sharing their love of music and the joy of playing it live, one song at a time.

Colin’s musical journey began in primary school when he stepped up as lead singer in his first band. But it wasn’t until Standard 6 that he picked up a guitar — a turning point that would shape the rest of his life.
For his 14th birthday, Colin’s older brother, a musician himself, gifted him a ¾-scale electric guitar. That night, in a quiet hostel room, Colin began practicing with the amp turned off, learning to play in secret after lights out. It was the start of a lifelong love affair with music — one built on curiosity, dedication, and countless hours of quiet rehearsal.
As Colin puts it: “And the rest is history.”
From sneaking off with a drummer friend to jam sessions loud enough to draw the police, to decades of live performances, Colin’s passion for music has never faded. Today, he brings that same fire to the stage with Niteshift — blending nostalgia, experience, and soul into every note he plays.
